Emily Walcker

Born in 1972, Emily Walcker lives and works in the Paris region. A graduate of the Penninghen school, she is a painter and illustrator for the press and publishing. She notably illustrated the first two volumes of the Harry Potter saga as well as a book-disc by Marlène Jobert.
In his painting, the themes of inspiration are multiple: cafes in Paris, human bodies and faces, dance scenes, birds and foliage, urban landscapes. Emilien Bouglione having opened the doors of the Cirque d'Hiver to her, she also painted the arena and the backstage of the marquee.
Passionate about the books of Georges Amado, she stayed in Brazil, in residence at the Alliance Française de Brasilia, where she was dazzled by the colors, the music, the atmospheres, which then nourished her work.
She has been exhibiting for twenty years, in France and in the United States (Boston, New Orleans).

"For me, she writes, painting, far from being a conceptual approach, is above all an act of love: an encounter with the spectacle of the world, its beauty or its sadness, the immense or minute marvels of nature. . This feeds my creation. »

We present here works on paper where dancing characters, both carnal and transfigured, evolve as in a dream. The bodies with stylized shapes seem to move under water or in the air. The clean line, the color treated in luminous flat areas give this very personal universe an attractive lunar, dreamlike atmosphere.
