Emmanuelle Renard

Born in 1963, Emmanuelle Renard lives and works between Paris, Sitges, south of Barcelona, and Pondicherry.
Since 1986, she has been exhibiting in France and abroad: Paris, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, London, Brussels, Copenhagen, Geneva, Basel, Stockholm, Chicago, Los Angeles, Beirut ...
To qualify her painting, one could speak of surrealist expressionism, or the reverse. For it is a strong, powerful, very expressive painting, where objects seem to come to life, where characters are strange, scenes unlikely and colors frank. If it were necessary to give her ancestors, we would gladly quote Baroque artists, and then Goya, Soutine, Chagall, Rebeyrolle.
Emmanuelle Renard is a major figurative artist of the current French panorama, who has been seducing  many collectors in France and abroad for thirty years and whom we are happy to welcome in our gallery.
She speaks thus of her work : "I seek the invisible path in some way, I try to reach the invisible reality of the things behind the apparent reality. Visible and invisible are two substances that communicate with one another. And in my painting it is the passage that interests me. Searching  this movement, which in itself is difficult to represent. I do not paint the being but the passage of the being. I do not paint a cactus, a tree, a chair, but "the invisible path of the chair". Like a restless, feverish, worried present ".
